How to apply?
Applications for funding can be submitted during calls for project proposals.
Calls are opened every 12 to 18 months, with the publication of terms of reference describing the programme’s expectations.
- Project proposals can be submitted as of publication of the terms of reference until a pre-defined deadline.
- Calls are open generally for about two months.
- Applications have to be submitted via the Joint Electronic Monitoring System (Jems).
The programme co-finances both small-scale and classic projects. Classic projects are selected following a two-step application procedure and small-scale projects will be selected following a one-step procedure. Find more information about the current calls for proposal below!

Classic projects: current calls
Classic projects have been in place for several years already and offer a result oriented approach, helping to identify the expected contribution of projects in a defined policy field. Their selection follows a two-step application procedure.
January 2024: 32 project proposals have been selected for step 2.
Timeline second call
- 13 Oct. 2023 13:00 CET: Deadline for submission step 1
- 23-24 Jan. 2024: Programme Committee meeting – project selection step 1
- 6-7 Feb. 2024: Lead applicant seminar (selected projects step 2)
- 8 March 2024 13:00 CET: Deadline for submission step 2
- 5-6 June 2024**: Programme Committee meeting – project selection step 2
- July 2024 (date tbd): Project start

**The time needed for the assessment may vary depending on the number of applications received and selected. Exact dates will be communicated directly to lead applicants.
Classic projects have the following characteristics:
Total budget: €1m to €3m
Duration: 24 to 36 months
Partnership: 7 to 12 partners
Transnationality: at least 4 countries
Small-scale projects: current calls
Small-scale projects are shorter and involve less partners compared to classic projects. It allows the beneficiaries to address innovative subjects from a thematic and/or territorial perspective. Their selection follows a one-step application procedure.
No current call for small-scale projects.
After two rounds of small-scale projects and following the Stuttgart workshop, we decided to postpone the 3rd call for small-scale projects to 2024. This will allow us to better define the priorities and improve our support and communication to applicants. Further information will be communicated online in due time.
Small-scale projects have the following characteristics:
Total budget: €250k to €750k
Duration: 12 to 18 months
Partnership: 3 to 6 partners
Transnationality: at least 3 countries

Jems
The Joint Electronic Monitoring System (Jems) is a tool for project applicants and project partners to create and submit application forms. It also allows the programme bodies to monitor the implementation of the projects as well as of the programme itself. It should be noted that Jems is not a management tool for project partners.

Info session
11 July 2023, 11:00 – 11:45 (Online). During this online presentation, learn more about the terms of reference, selection criteria and the expectations of the Alpine Space Programme for the second call. Download the presentation
Q&A session
13 and 20 September (Online). One month before the deadline, the Joint Secretariat will organise a Q&A session with potential applicants to clarify the last questions before they submit their project proposal. More information will be updated in due time.
National Info Days
The national Alpine Space Contacts Points organise information sessions on the current call for projects. They provide you with all the necessary information in their national language, among others on the national requirements for the project partners.
