Textile communities gather in Poschiavo / Part 3

Sep 29, 2023

Alpine textile traditions are at risk. So, it always feels special to gather with those who are keeping this precious knowledge alive with their heart and hands.

Last week at Polo Poschiavo we were #IntertwiningCultures, gathering different experiences, needs, and languages. We heard the stories – and felt the woolen products – of Cam’on (IT), an association of women of different ages that meet once a week to weave a variety of items, and no-profit organization Macil (IT); the representatives of Skofja Loka’s weavers of the KREATIVNICE Center (SL); and breeders and craftspeople from Montafon (AT). There were also two Swiss hand-weaving labs in attendance: Tessitura, headquartered at Museo Poschiavo, and Tessanda of Val Mustair.

It was an occasion to allow makers from different regions to share best practices and experiences, initiate transnational collaborations, and shape the pilot actions that AlpTextyles will carry out starting from the needs voiced by the makers themselves.

We thank Il Bernina for stopping by and taking the time to learn more about our Project.
