On October 25th, 2023, the EGTC Geopark Karawanken-Karavanke and the IRSNC-ZRSVN, in collaboration with the University of Padova, organized an impactful online seminar centered around the Geopark school topic, “Wetlands – in nature with boots,” specifically designed for teachers and educators. About 60 people attended the seminar, which was held in English, Slovenian and German.
The seminar aimed to introduce the project and the didactic booklet “Wetlands-in nature with boots”, prepared by the I-SWAMP collaboration, now available in German, Slovenian and Italian, and soon to be available in French and English too!
The event also allowed the partnership to showcase ongoing activities, discuss the school topic, and present ideas for its implementation within classroom settings.
The seminar featured a diverse lineup of presentations and discussions, where experts shared their insights and knowledge on various aspects related to wetlands. The schedule included talks by experts working for all the partners and the external contractor E.C.O., presenting the activities and the results of I-SWAMP, exploring major threats and necessary restoration measures for wetlands, introducing wetland biodiversity of plants and animals and explaining how to teach kids about wetlads using the brand new I-SWAMP booklet.
The successful execution of this webinar underlines the commitment to environmental education and the preservation of wetland ecosystems of the partners, along with the interest in such topics that can be found among teaching and education professionals.
